At the beginning of 2025, the median age of Malaysia’s population was 31.0, with half of Malaysia’s population above this age, and the other half of the population below it.

For added context, here’s how Malaysia’s total population broke down by age group at the start of the year:

6.1 percent was between the ages of 0 and 4.

12.1 percent was between the ages of 5 and 12.

7.7 percent was between the ages of 13 and 17.

11.9 percent was between the ages of 18 and 24.

17.6 percent was between the ages of 25 and 34.

16.6 percent was between the ages of 35 and 44.

11.6 percent was between the ages of 45 and 54.

8.4 percent was between the ages of 55 and 64.

8.0 percent was aged 65 and above.

Bermula tahun 2015, Hari Malaysia dan Hari Kemerdekaan tidak lagi menggunakan ulang tahun seperti kali ke 28 tapi sebaliknya menggunakan tahun iaiti “2015”. Ianya untuk menyeragamkan antara Sarawak, Sabah dan Semenanjung kerana penggabungan Malaysia yang sebenarnya pada 16 September, dan 31 Ogos hanya melibatkan Semenanjung sahaja.
